Lee Chong Wei Terus Aksi Cemerlang

Hajat Pei Tty-Eei Hui raih juara berganda tak sampai

Pei Tty-Eei Hui pula mengakui kecewa gagal meraih gelaran kedua selepas memenangi Terbuka Indonesia, minggu lalu.

"Kami dapat tahu mereka adalah pasangan yang pantas, tetapi kami tidak sangka mereka amat pantas. Kami hadapi masalah menyesuaikan diri dengan rentak mereka. Kini, kami perlu kembali fokus untuk persiapan ke Kejohanan Dunia," kata Pei Tty.

Top Seeds Cruise Through

JOHOR BAHARU, June 25 The form guide at the Malaysian Open Grand Prix series remains right on course as the top seeds cruised into the last eight tonight.

Leading the charge is Malaysia's No 1 seed in the men singles, Datuk Lee Chong Wei who booked his quarter-final ticket with an easy win over China's Zhou Wen Long in the 3rd round clash at the Indoor stadium here tonight.

Chong Wei won 21-18,21-14 to set up a quarter-final clash against Japan's Kenichi Tago, the 5th seed tomorrow night and going by the form book, Chong Wei should have no problem booking his ticket into the last four and possibly the final too where China's Chen Long is now the favourite to be there after the loss of Indonesia's Taufik Hidayat.

Chong Wei was hardly in trouble against the Chinese youngster tonight even though at times he looked a little uncomfortable, especially in the opening game. But once he got going there was little the Chinese could do.

"I made a lot of silly mistakes in the opening game but I was in control throughout. I didn't allow myself to be distracted. Infact I was comfortable throughout the match.

"Tago is a player I have met numerous times and the last time I played him was in the Swiss Open in March and I went on to win the title," said Chong Wei.

Two other Malaysians are also in the last eight of the men's singles - Wong Choon Hann, the 8th seed and the unseeded Tan Chun Seang. Choon Hann beat fellow Malaysian Kuan Beng Hong 21-19,21-16 while Chun Seang overcame another Malaysian Yeoh Kay Bin 21-16,21-13.

Choon Hann will take on China's Gao Huan while Chun Seang will play Chen Long tomorrow night.

The women's singles top seed Pi Hongyan of France is in the last eight too after her 21-18,21-11 win over Taruno Megumi in their 3rd round clash tonight.

So is the No 2 seed Sania Nehwal of India who overcame the tough resistance put up by Thailand's Intanon Ratchanok 18-21,21-12,21-8 for a quarter-final meeting with China's Wang Xin tomorrow.

Malaysian Open: Chong Wei Safely Through

JOHOR BAHARU, June 24 Datuk Lee Chong Wei is safely through to the last sixteen of the Malaysian Open Grand Prix without having to raise a sweat.

The tournament's No 1 seed took care of teamate Lim Fang Yang 21-9,21-14 in their second round match at the Indoor stadium here Wednesday night to book his ticket into the last 16 where he will play China's Zhou Wenlong Thursday.

Chong Wei, the man the crowd had come to watch, will now be overwhelming favourite to lift the title after the exit of the No 2 seed, Indonesia's Taufik Hidayat in the opening round, losing to China's former world junior champion, Chen Long in three games in their opening round clash.

"I know I had two easy games today but even then I am still very much focussed on my games. I want to put up a good show here and not let the fans down.

"It will be interesting against Wenlong tomorrow. I have never played him before. But I don't think it should be a problem," said Chong Wei who had beaten Singapore's Derek Wong 21-12,21-11 in the opening round.

Also through is Chen Long, who beat Malaysia's Pei Wei Chung in their second round clash in scores of 21-10,21-10 for a clash against India's Arvind Bhat, the No 9 in the last sixteen.

But the gallant run of National Junior champion Iskandar Zulkarnian Zainuddin ended after he was beaten by India's Ajay Jayaram 13-21,20-22 in their clash last night. Iskandar had earlier toppled the No 3 seed, India's Chetan Anand in the opening match in the morning.

The Indian flag was kept flying with their pride and joy, Sania Nehwal who captured the Indonesian Open women's singles crown last week, beating Thailand's B.Porntip 21-18,22-20 to book her ticket into the last sixteen.

Wong Mew Choo, seeded No 4 also came through with a 21-7,21-11 win over Canada's Charmaine Reed last night. So did the top seed Pi Hongyan of France with a 21-15,21-19 win over Singapore's Zhang Beiwen Tuesday night.

Malaysia March Into Semis After Convincing Win Over Hong Kong

KUALA LUMPUR, June 23  Malaysia stormed into the semi-finals of the Asian Netball Championship after beating Hong Kong 52-26 in a Group B match at the Juara Stadium, Bukit Kiara Sports Complex Tuesday.

Malaysia's leading scorer throughout the championship, S. Aruna, once again lived up to expectations with 35 goals while Nur Ezzaini Mohd Nur (15) and Nur Atikah Mat Salleh (2) also played their part in the victory.

The win against Hong Kong today was Malaysia's third in the championship after wins over India and Pakistan earlier but losing to Sri Lanka meant they finish second in Group B behind the Sri Lankans.

In the semi-finals, Malaysia will meet Group A winner and defending champion Singapore on Friday while Sri Lanka face Thailand.

In another Group B match played today, India whipped Pakistan 53-24.

"In today's match, the opponents were a little aggressive but the players were cautious and careful to avoid any serious injuries.

"Despite the win, there is much room for improvement, especially in defence. But overall, all the players put in a good performance," skipper Nur Ain Ramlan told Bernama after the match.

As for the semi-final match against Singapore, which will actually be a repeat of the 2005 final, Nur Ain said the Singaporeans are fast and physically fit.

"We have two days to draw out our strategy to overcome them," she said.

No Visa For Malaysians To See South Africa World Cup

KUALA LUMPUR, June 22 Malaysians do not need a visa to watch the South Africa World Cup 2010 for a stay of less than 30 days, said South Africa's High Commission's Counselor Andre Vande Venter.

He said the South African government had identified certain countries including Malaysia for that privilege because of the strategic partnership and business ties.

"But this is nothing to do with the World Cup, the agreement on that had been signed years ago. We just want people to notice that information," he said after talks on World Cup preparation organised by the Rotary Club of Pantai Valley, here Monday.

On the preparation for the event, he said all infrastructure projects including the construction of the stadiums were ahead of schedule and all were expected to be completed before the end of this year.

In terms of security, he said over 41,000 police personnel would be guarding all eight cities involved on this World Cup. South Africa also allowed participating countries to bring their own police and security personnel for that purpose.

The 2010 FIFA World Cup will be the 19th FIFA World Cup, scheduled to take place between June 11 and July 11, 2010 in South Africa.

It will be the first time that the tournament is being hosted by a nation in the Confederation of African Football, leaving the Oceania Football Confederation as the only FIFA Confederation never to have hosted the event.

Chong Wei, Eei Hui-Pei Tty gah

Sahut cabaran BAM, ungguli final perseorangan, beregu Terbuka Indonesia

TEGURAN keras Persatuan Badminton Malaysia (BAM) sebelum ini menuntut pemain bangkit daripada keaiban Terbuka Singapura jelas tidak sia-sia apabila Lee Chong Wei dan pasangan beregu wanita negara, Chin Eei Hui-Wong Pei Tty kembali menyelamatkan maruah tercalar itu.

Semalam, Chong Wei terus membuktikan nilainya selaku pemain nombor satu dunia dengan menewaskan jaguh Indonesia, Taufik Hidayat dalam final perseorangan lelaki di Terbuka Indonesia dan Eei Hui-Pei Tty turut gah melakar gemilang di Jakarta buat menceriakan peminat tanah air.

CHONG Wei (kanan) memeluk Taufik selepas aksi final, semalam.

Malaysia In 12th Spot

JOHOR BAHARU, June 20 It was a disappointing end to Malaysia's Junior World Cup hockey campaign.

They needed to beat Belgium to finish 11th, but they couldn't do it at the Taman Daya Hockey stadium today and had to be content with the 12th spot after the 2-3 loss.

And it was all because of a poor first-half performance which saw Malaysia trailing by two goals, and then the deficit got bigger in the opening minutes of the second period.

It was too huge a gap for Malaysia to catch up with and even though they hit back with two goals, it was a case of too little, too late.

"I must admit that I am disappointed at how we played, especially in the first half, and to finish 12th is also another disappointment," said Malaysian coach K. Rajan.

Belgium, who were denied a place in the last eight on a mere one-goal difference, stormed into the lead through Felix Denayer in the 26th minute, and then, Simon Gougnard made it 2-0, just at the stroke of half-time.

Malaysia, in between, did nothing to trouble the Belgians and the absence of their suspended top striker Faisal Shaari did not help the team's cause, either.

Then came Belgium's third goal in the 39th minute from Amaury Keusters, and Malaysia were left fighting a lost cause.

Izwan Firdaus Tajuddin pulled one back for Malaysia in the 43rd minute but it was never going to be enough and a last-minute goal from N. Ramanathan only made the scoreline more respectable.

"Consistency, or rather the lack of it, was our biggest problem throughout the tournament. At this level, you need to be able to give your best in every match to stay in contention. Sadly, we could not do it," said Rajan.

Celoteh Kepten Shafari - Ronaldo is Sold!

Dear all,

So the 20 plus Famemas members that went to S'pore had a good time doing shopping. There was no Malaysian shuttlers to support and the hockey team was not qualified for the next round. Well guys... reserve your voices for the Sea Games then.

It was lucky me that I did not go... may be instinct or just plain lucky. Anyway I had this "meminang' do of my nephew...I had to be the man who'll do all the 'pantuns' cos they wanted it to be the Melaka way of engagement do...with pantuns and cencalok and etc etc...

It wasnt me that got engaged... huh... Razlin. Dont worry.. I am still available cos I do believe that I am a one woman's man. heheh... (still trying my luck..ok)

On Saturday the papers had "Cristiano Ronaldo scored with Paris Hilton" and on Sunday, it was "Ronaldo scored at extra time". hehehe these paper editors are very good at toying with words. It attracted readers and I think many read about those news.

At 80 million pounds... or half a billion ringgit... it is a very-very huge amount but then Real Madrid will surely make profits out of it. When MU sold David Beckham, Real Madrid said that it was peanuts that they paid for him cos Real made much more from Beckham's brand. And I like what Sapp Blater said of Ronaldo's price, "Mona Lisa painting was bought at 100 million euro and it was placed where no one see but soccer players are being watched at least twice a week and if the amount could buy breads for millions but then entertainment is also part of food for the people". Well.. I cant agree more with the FIFA President.

In Malaysian sports... Lee Chong Wei lost to a Vietnamese and our hockey team failed to proceed to the next round. Something is wrong especially with BAM. Last year and in 2007 we were just great and at the top of the world but it came crashing down... like the roof of Trengganu's stadium. I think the absence of Misbun is affecting Lee Chong Wei but then what about the doubles... men and women too?? Is Ricky Manaiky slacking or was there some interference from unknown hands?? Please Tan Sri Nadzmi, do something about it or we shall be like FAM or MHF... rotting and at the bottom.

But there are some good news like Fairuz Fauzi got 1st, Nicol David is in winning forms, bowling is getting better and in netball... Malaysia ada chance. Malaysia Boleh!

Flight AF447 that lost in the Atlantic.....they managed to recover about 40 bodies after more than a week. H1N1 is spreading and dengue is getting worse in KL and Selangor. Then the haze is back and so is the dry weather. Well Guys... our fore fathers had done a lot of damages to the nature in the disguise of development and we too are contributing to it. Can our future generations survive if these unbecoming characters being practice? We spoke too much on being Green.. taking care of mother nature but if you were to look around, the greedy bussinessmen are clearing the jungles...and without the flora and fauna...I wonder how my great great grand children were to live. Maybe they'll still survive but walking around with oxygen tanks... just like Razlin is when she is scuba diving.

What ever it is... as long as we abstain ourselves from destroying nature and always earn a living in a "proper' way, then God will be on our side.

Take care guys... and be happy always.

capt....yeah.. still lonely in KL.
