Aziem Athira Abdullah invited to attend the 1st Youth Olympic Games 2010 as one of only five Young Reporters from the world.

Singapore’s Ministry of Information, Communication and the Arts (MICA) have once again invited Ms Aziem Athira Abdullah, from Seafield Secondary School, Subang Jaya, who was a participant in MICA’s Young Reporters Training Camp 2009 (YRTC), to return to Singapore during the Youth Olympic Games in August 2010.

She is one of the top five participants in the MICA’s YRTC training camps. She will be joined by Mr Juan Fernando Crespo (Ecuador), Mr Andrej Jovanchevski (Macedonia), Ms Manaal Mohamed (Maldives) and Mr Piort Pilipp (Poland).

The Young Reporters Training Camp (YRTC) is an initiative of the Singapore’s Ministry of Information, Communication and the Arts (MICA) to assist the Singapore Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee (SYOGOC) in promoting the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) that will be held in Singapore from 14th – 26th August 2010.

The camps aim to promote exchanges in sports, education and culture amongst youth from all around the world. Ultimately, the camps hope to foster the Olympic spirit and values of Excellence, Friendship and Respect.

Participants were selected from students who are in the FRIENDS@YOG programme initiated earlier by the Singapore Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee (SYOGOC). This twinning concept is for Singapore schools to be twinned with schools around the world. National Junior College Singapore is twinning with Seafield Secondary School, Subang Jaya, Malaysia for the secondary school category. For the primary school category, Zainab 2 Primary School in Kota Bharu, Kelantan is twinned with Raffles Girls Primary School of Singapore.

The Young Reporters Training Camp (YRTC) is for students from schools who are in the FRIENDS@YOG programme. Seafield Secondary School nominated 2 of their students, and Ms Aziem Athira Abdullah was chosen by MICA to participate in their first training camp IN 2009.

Celoteh Kepten Shafari - World Cup

Captain Shafari.

2010 World Cup is coming to an end. Holland to meet Spain in the Final.

Oranje VS Matadors.. and i'll take Oranje.

German sudah kalah.

She was rooting for Germany. So my chances of being her man in the shining armour is getting slimmer... but then as long as there is a chance... there is still an opportunity. And mind you, I am not giving up yet. I've been keeping low but my will and determination is still as strong as the marauding typhoon or the thumping ocean waves. Yeah... saya Boleh!

Sudah lama kita tak bersua... atau berjumpa untuk bersorak bersama... sometimes I do feel of missing u all... to shout together and making fun of one another or just to chat.. maybe the coming squash session at the Curve will meet us up since we are not going to JB this weekend. Or why cant we just meet for the World Cup final match on this Sunday or Monday morning... Spain vs Holland?

Kereta, juga MPV. This is the tag line for Alza of Perodua. The wordings is one of the Best! in same league with Nike-Just Do It! Air Asia-Now everyone can fly. What I am trying to say is that with correct words... one can capture the world's attention. So I am trying to find that missing words to melt down her heart. So kawan-kawan... if you do have... pls tell me ok. heheh

Back to the world cup, my ED, a lady about 30 something went to witness a few matches in South Africa. She went to Euro '08 and the previous world cup too. I wished I could have been there too. Well.. I can understand her feelings... as I was in Athens for the 2004 Olympics. It is a fiesta/carnival and whatever it is... it is a party time. The people loves it and every body just joined the fun. Banyak syiok lor.... So why not we plan for 2014 World Cup? Lets plan from now. My ED spent RM25K for her trip. So we must start saving about RM520 per month from now.

Ok guys... got to work.

till next Celoteh... take care and enjoy the weekend. And pls cheer for Holland. Oranje Boleh!

If I were her... I'll support Holland too cos it is Germany's neighbour. Bye...bye... Ballack. heheheh

capt...masih teringatkan si dia.

Press Conference on National Basketball League 2010

The 9th National Basketball League 2010 was launched by the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Malaysia, YB Senator Gan Ping Sieu on 1st July 2010 at the Olympic Sports Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.
In his address, the Hon. Deputy Minister congratulated the organizers of the NBL for being able to sustain the League for the 9th year. He stated that NBL by playing its matches in Sabah and Sarawk, will further promote and develop Basketball throughout Malaysia. The presence of foreign players in the League will motivate the Malaysian players to improve their game in order to keep pace with the foreign professionals players.

He added that Basketball was introduced into Malaysia in the early 1930’s and today Basketball is being played by all sectors of the Malaysian population at all levels. He confirmed the continued support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Malaysia for the development of Basketball, and hoped for similar support from the private sector, public and sports associations.

He informed the audience that his Ministry has identified 2011 as the “Sport Industry Year”, with the aim to ‘industrialise’ sports by injecting more commercial elements and professionalism into the industry. With the Ministry being the motivator and initiated, sports will be a vibrant industry which can contribute to job creation sn the national GDP, and not merely a recreational or leisure fitness activity.

Finally, he thanked the Olympic Council of Malaysia, the Malaysian Basketball Association, the sponsors, the team owners and players and the fans for their support for the development of Basketball.

Encik Tan Kee Hian, the Commissioner, National Basketball League, in his speech, presented some details on the NBL 2010. He said that, like in 2009, there will be 4 teams, namely, Sarawak Rainbow, Perak Farmcochem, Penampang Kinsabina and KL Dragons, with each team being permitted to have foreign players. He stated that the NBL 2010 will have 4 circuits, with the first circuit at Bintulu Indoor Stadium, Sarawak from 9th to 11th July 2010, the second circuit at Dewan KDCA, Penampang, Sabah from 16th to 18th July 2010, The final regular season circuit at Indera Mulia Stadium, Ipoh from 24th to 26th July 2010 and the playoff will be at MABA Stadium, Kuala Lumpur from 30th July to 1st August 2010. 2 matches will be played each night.

All the teams will compete in three rounds during the regular season. The Team that finished first in the regular season will play the Team that finished 4th in one semi-final, with the Team that finished 2nd will play the Team that finished 3rd in the other semi-final. The semi-finals will be over to matches. If each team wins one match, then the winner will be decided by point difference between the two teams. The winners of the semi-finals will play off the final. Encik Tan concluded his speech by thanking the main sponsor of NBL, Agromate Holdings Sdn. Bhd., with Molten as the Official ball, and other sponsors.

A questions and answers session for media representatives was held immediately after the speeches. The presentation of Team Jerseys to the representatives of the 4 teams was then held followed by the presentation of the sponsors logos and the presentation of souvenirs by NBL.

AYAM A1 – Kuala Lumpur Youth (U16) Boys & Girls Volleyball Championships 2010

The AYAM A1 – Kuala Lumpur Youth (U16) Boys & Girls Volleyball Championships 2010 will be held from 6th to 8th July at Pusat Kecemerlangan Sukan Cochrane KL and 9th to 11th July 2010 at SMK Sri Sentosa Kucai Lama, Kuala Lumpur. The Championships is jointly organized by the Kuala Lumpur Volleyball Association and the Kuala Lumpur Schools Sports Council with AYAM A1 as the main sponsor. The Official Volleyball sponsor is Molten. The Championships will be competed by16 boys and 16 girls school teams from Kuala Lumpur.

The Championships is a good model for junior development, which national and state sports association could follow. The main obstacle to junior development of most sports is the absence of sports clubs. All schools have their school teams, but lack funds and technical capacity to organise championships for the school teams. As such the state or national sports associations should source for a sponsor or sponsors and then work with their respective state schools sports councils to organise a championships along the lines of the AYAM A1 – Kuala Lumpur Youth (U16) Boys and Girls Volleyball Championships 2010.

Another example of working together between the schools, a sports organisation and a sponsor is the Milo Open National Schools Karate Championships, which held its 11th edition on 3rd and 4th July 2010 at the Kuala Lumpur Badminton Stadium, Cheras, with over 700 participants.

Karate is not in the official programme of the Malaysian Schools Sports Council (MSSM). However, this has not deterred the Hayashi-Ha Karate-Do Association, with the approval of the Malaysian Karate Federation and sponsorship from Milo, to organise the Milo Open National Schools Karate Championships, with MSSM.

The fact that the above Championships successfully concluded its 11th edition over the last two days, is proof that Hayashi-Ha Karate-Do Association, Milo and MSSM have worked out a winning formula, which does not impose financial constraints on MSSM.,
