Celoteh Kepten Shafari - AGM Famemas

Jason Thiang and Kepten Shafari

Dear all,

the Famemas EGM, AGM & CNY gathering was indeed a success. 54 attended and it was a happening, THANKS to Prof. Capt Dr Zaki, as Chairman who made the meeting to be a very informal type of AGM. Where all felt very comfortable and it was just like a gathering of a very big extended family. Only drawback was that many who were used to be active before..they did not turn up. Well.. life got to go on.. anyway.

I am in the committee now. To be frank I do not want it. As I’ve said earlier... I’ll be a better watch dog from outside as being an ordinary member. Well.. my sincere thank you to all of you who elected me ...but then I’ll write a formal letter to the club of my intention to step down.

My reasons are:

1. Let the younger ones to be in the committee
2. The club is well managed and I think my presence wont be able to make it better (afraid that it will be worse with me around)
3. The club needs sponsors and I think those with strong connections with coporate bodies should be there.
4. I am quite a hot tempered man and if I cant get my way...I’ll hantam!! and may result in fist fights...hehehe kesian Lee.. with bruised eyes cos I got silat seribu langkah.. .(ca...but..lari) hehe
5. Most of the members are men... what a boring and dull meetings
6. I like traveling and my job provides me with that alot..and afraid that I cant come for meetings
6. She is a jealous type... with Yusnita around... then I cant live in peace...kah kah kah
7. OK.. OK .. actually I just do not want to be in the committee but I promise to give full support whenever the club needs it.

Yeah.... I am an ordinary member now and I hope the new committee/excos will bring the club to greater heights, greater success and an envy to all. Famemas BOLEH!!

Again Congrats to Slumdog Millionaire which won 7 Oscars. I feel sorry to Roshan Natao, the former BF of Frieda Pinto (Razlin’s twin). He was dumped after 6 yrs of courtship just because Frieda is now famous and rich... and I think I’ll walk the same path as Roshan... if she ever becomes a well known model... hehehe (To her.. sampai hati ke you untuk bertindak sedemikian... kita dah 5 tahun dah...hehehe and you are not like Frieda kan??) or is it that I was already being dumped.... sememang nya... kesian saya .. hehehe

To think over it... actually Famemas is a great club. We have Zuldean who manages the photos and IT part. Hadfiz.. the ever hard working and committed secretary. Lee.. ever energetic. David and Aneh... sacrificing for the club. That day... Dr Zaki proved to be a very capable man to replace the speaker of our parliament if PR comes to power. Nic, Keh, Brian, Khairul, Tok Moh, Yusnita and on and on.. I can name the whole list of them who really can work for the better of our club. So guys... please make our club a great organisation for all of us and for the better of Malaysian sports and games. Lets do it!! Kita BOLEH!! And not forgetting too... to those who did not turn up like Hoon, Lilian, Vanitha, Razlin, Philo, J Lo and so the list goes on... Famemas BOLEH!!

And I am looking forward for the trip to Singapore comes June. Let us prepare for it and make it the best ever gathering...and cheering ... FYI when were there in 2007, our presence was even discussed in their parliament... I watched it. They did not mentioned us or Malaysia but then they are trying to revive the Red Supporters.. used to be known during the old Malaysia Cup days. Let us all rock... in their own back yard. Show them that we are united..we are Malaysians. So EXCOs...you better plan for this trip... and make it into a trip that we are to cherish it for many many years...(I got only a few more years kot... insyAllah)

I got to get serious in jogging. Hopefully I’ll be able to take up half marathon by this June for the KL marathon. I know that many Famemasians are good runners and I need some tips to get prepared for the run. Pls advise ok.

and Good Luck to those who are taking part in the Malaysian Iron Man at Langkawi this weekend.

take care....

2009 IIHF Challenge Cup of Asia – Press Release by MIHF

The Malaysia Ice Hockey Federation (MIHF) held its media conference on 21st February 2009 at the Fig & Olive Restaurant, Sunway Pyramid. Y.Bhg. Dato’ Lee Hwa Beng, President of MIHF stated that the purpose of the media conference was to inform the media of the participation of the Malaysian Ice Hockey team in the 2nd IIHF Challenge Cup of Asia 2009 and to introduce the members of the team and some sponsors of the MIHF. The media release is as shown below.

The “2009 IIHF Challenge Cup of Asia,” (CCOA) tournament to be held in Abu Dhabi, UAE from 13 – 22 March is sanctioned by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). The governing body of international hockey has been instrumental in helping to develop ice hockey in non-winter countries. Their continuous support has ensured the growth of ice hockey in Asia. This is the second tournament of this calibre for non-winter countries in the Asian region. The countries participating in this year’s tournament are Malaysia, UAE, Hong Kong, India, Singapore, Thailand, Macau and Mongolia.

The Malaysian men’s national ice hockey team took part in the inaugural 2008 IIHF Challenge Cup of Asia in Hong Kong. The national team took home the silver medal, with wins against Hong Kong, Singapore and Macau, a tie with Thailand and a loss against Chinese-Taipei. Malaysian player Loke Ban Kin was voted the tournament’s Most Valuable Player and also the best player of the Malaysian team.

Malaysia had the privilege to play in the Asian Winter Games in Changchun, China, in 2007 whereby the team adjusted to a higher level of play and fared better than expected. The 2009 IIHF Challenge Cup of Asia tournament will be part of the preparation for the next Asian Winter Games in Almaty, Kazakhstan in 2011. With careful planning and a well-rounded training schedule, the Malaysian team will be better equipped to face the challenges of the upcoming 2011 Asian Winter Games.

Ice Hockey is a thriving new sport in Malaysia with significant opportunities for growth amongst youths and adults. Many current local ice hockey players got their start when Malaysia hosted the World Ice Hockey 5’s in 2001, 2002, 2005 and 2006. The matches attracted the attention of the younger generation, and some have since progressed to be solid ice hockey players.

Besides promoting a healthy lifestyle, ice hockey tournaments such as this also will ensure the sport’s growth and continued publicity. On top of that, players also will be able to keep up with the competitive level of the sport around the region.
Institut Sukan Negara (ISN), Dexion Asia, SportsPlanet, Dargon-i, Canton-i, Mammoth Expire Holdings and Sunway Pyramid have all stepped up to help the team achieve their goal. Etihad Airways being the official airline and Star Metro the media sponsor will play an integral part in aiding the national team. With the corporate support, the players are able to channel their focus on their training. It also fuels the players’ motivation as they strive to meet the challenge. We are encouraged that these companies have set the tone for corporate social responsibility and hope our partnerships will open doors to more endeavours. All games will be played in OCM Indoor Hall from 9.00am to 4.00pm each day. Handball club teams from Terengganu, Negeri Sembilan, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Johor, Perak, Kelantan, Melaka and Perlis including an expat team have shown interests to participate in this year’s league. Singapore Youth Olympic team turned down the MHF’s invitation as they are in the midst of selection for their national team, but they agree to have an annual game with the Malaysia team after the MAHL in August.

With the successful organization of the last three leagues since 2006, MHF has identified many talented handball players to compete at international level if MSN can approve our training program for both men and women teams and for more international participations.

In conjunction to the league, Asia Handball Federation (AHF) is offering Malaysia to conduct a referee course during the league. Some participants may come from Asia and South East Asia countries. This is an honour for Malaysia to promote this Olympic sport to all Asian Handball member Countries. The main sponsors of the 4th National Handball League are MILO and MOLTEN.

Celoteh Lee Hui Seng - Elizabeth Wong & FAMEMAS AGM

Hi all,

Thanks to Shafari for his comments on Elizabeth Wong and Famemas AGM. However, I like to add that the decision to send 'posted' club correspondence to my office/house was made some time back. When the club was formed way back in 2002, our correspondence address was at Samsung Office in Plaza Sentral because one of our Commiittee members then was a Samsung employee (Lilian). Now that she has left Samsung, and as you know we have no permanent clubhouse or Club Office (we are not a very rich club either:-),so the Committee decided to make my Office/House as the official correspondence.Any email correspondence goes to our club email: famemas@gmail.com.As we are a NGO and purely volunteer driven (all of us are volunteers and have full time jobs), its only for logistics reason and convenience that we have decided likewise.

If anyone can suggest a better correspondence address such as our Patron or Advisor house,we shall be willing to hear such suggestions.

As for the nomination forms,we collate and shall pass them to the Speaker of the AGM to vet them before the meeting. So any doubts on the validity of the nomination form will be scrutinised by the Speaker and his team of two scrutineers, who will be appointed by the members at the AGM.

I hope I have cleared the air and avoid any misunderstanding that may arise.

Let's move the club forward for the betterment of sports and all.

And hope our members will turn up at AGM/EGM and participate.

Thanks

Regds

Lee

Celoteh Kepten Shafari - Elizabeth Wong & AGM

Hello frens,

have you all see Elizabeth Wong’s (Selangor EXCO) “nude” photo? Aiyah.. she was taking a nap and since the air cond was not working... she naturally took off her panty and slept on the sofa... then someone came and took the photo. Nothing much to see cos it was really bushy... heheh for so much of fertiliser... heheh That’s what I saw... So what is all the fuss and *** demanded her to step down? what wrong has she done? Is sleeping without a panty is against the law?? Then the whole police force cant sleep at night...

YB Elizebath Wong... stay on as an EXCO and carry on with your job. Your only sin is your grass cutter might have forgotten to cut the growing bush... hehehe and to stop all the bickerings and what not.. call me and I dont mind to marry you if at all this might stop the *** guys from killing your political career. Call me YB. I am at your service. ( To her...dont worry.. you are still my NO.1!... it is only that I am taking up Aneh’s challenge that I cant get a Chinese GF).

Famemas AGM. First and foremost I am not happy with Lee...for submitting the nomination forms through fax to his house or office. THIS IS WRONG. The AGM could be called off.... Null & Void. Well I am not a lawyer but base on logic.. it is wrong. Am I right? Maybe Lee do not have any bad malice but then it could lead to negative speculations and may tarnish the club.

Famemas members... please elect the ones that you believe that can contribute for the better of Famemas. To me..most of the present EXCOs should stay but need to change 2-3 committee members who are idle or only taking advantage for oneself... Me? I am out. I am only good in making noises... I’ll be a better watch dog from being outside of the committee. And I dont have much time either... cos she is becoming a big time model and I got to escort her... heheheh

Thank you Maria for sending the article on Ang Mo Durian... gaviola tree.. Durian Belanda... soursoup... I really like the fruit and I’ll take more from now. FYI it is good for cancer patients...

Guys... sometimes I feel like staying in one corner of the Antartic... away from all the hassle. I dont mind of the day to day life but the political scenario in Malaysia and the unsincerity of the politicins...let it be in *** semua sama...mostly they are fighting of their own agendas. Why cant we be like Singapore... at least the politicians there are highly qualified and they talk sense... they work for the nation and for all Singaporeans.

And our economy is already in a very bad shape...but yet the politicians are saying that it is within control. I had a lengthy talk with my Fahteen (youngest daughter) yesterday...she needs more money now... cos things are getting more expensive. I’ve advised her to go for JPA scholarship cos her exam results are good...3 pointers ... it is just too much to maintain her high expenses... on studies and her other needs. Boy...during my days..I got only RM750 per month of being a 2nd Lieutenant but now.. that amount is still not enough for a student!! And if she were to have a car...then RM1500 pun tak cukup.

Has anyone see Slumdog Millionaire? I’ll try to watch it this weekend. Well if she is in town...jom kita pergi tengok kembar you...Frieda Pinto.

OK.. let us all meet up in Wisma OCM this Saturday. If not for the EGM and AGM ..then come for the CNY gathering. I am hoping ...she will be there too.

Malaysia Sasar Emas Untuk Badminton di Olimpik London

Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob

Sebanyak 17 orang atlet elit terpilih menyertai progam persediaan Road To London 2012, antaranya pemain nombor satu badminton dunia Datuk Lee Chong Wei, pelumba berbasikal kategori keirin, Mohd Azizulhasni Awang dan atlet memanah Cheng Chu Sian.

- Bernama

Celoteh Kepten Shafari - FAM & Perak

Dear friends,

So CNY came to an end yesterday with fire crackers. To me I always think of Chap Goh Mei as the last day of CNY and the time for the singles looking for his or her future beau by throwing oranges into the sea. Am I right on this belief? Pls correct me if I am wrong. Tq.

FAM... the same old story. The same excuses. Hello... hello the only wise thing to do is to change the President of FAM. He has been there since Malaysian football beginning to rot and he is still holding the fort when we are already in category D in Asia!! We are somewhere at the bottom most in Asia. My highness.. you have long overstayed. Please make way for new blood. Am I being derhaka? Let it be for the sake of  Malaysian football. Hello.. I only abide to God’s rulings (and that too I did go against them.. sometimes)

And pity Sathianathan and our taukeh Soh Chin Aun. They were booted out but the persons who are to be blamed for the fiasco are still there. Apa ini? Malaysia Boleh kah???

MU is leading the EPL standing now. And Fulham is not that bad. Sorry to all the misguided fans of Liverfools.. sorry guys. Well.. you can always try again next season and the next and the next... heheheh jangan marah ok.. Ole Ole Ole Ole MU Boleh... (syhhh.. I am taking the advantage when MU is still at the top..) I think MU will win at least 3 titles this season.. World Club, EPL and FA Cup. On Championship League... Inter Milan looks stronger. Hey..talking about predictions.. Slumdog Millionaire won 8 BAFTA awards!! I think I have that sixth sense.. and dont be surprised that Frieda Pinto’s twin sister will be seated just besides me for the Famemas’ CNY gathering...heheheh FYI she got no time to read this celoteh... itu sebab saya berani sikit.

It been quite sometime that I tak kacau my aneh. This aneh needs some cocok-cocok then only he’ll respond. I dont blame him but being old and a pensioner....one tends to be like that. But I really respect this Aneh.. he is both the mother and appa for his 2 children for so many many years. He sacrificed his life. He got not much time to enjoy himself. He is a TRUE FATHER! Well done and keep it up Mr Dorai. You are your children’s hero. If only you had gone for sex change... then I might propose ...hahahaha Yeeeyakkke!

Yeah.. time flies too fast. It is February now and again..Valentine day is fast approaching. So Aneh.. u kasi saya bunga.. saya kasi u bunga.. a deal ok.

And I forgot about Yusnita. Yus.. u sudah ada yang punya kah? Kalau belum pls sms to me ok....maybe we can have dinner at the kolam that I normally go fishing at. U suka pancing tak? ( dont worry Yus.. she is not reading this celoteh)...hehehehe

Ok guys.. take care and enjoy life. If I do hurt anyone of you... maaf ye.

Capt Shafari.

Advanced Sports Management Course (ASMC) 2009

One hears of calls for ex-national sports men and women to become office bearers of or to work in sports organizations. Many feel that because of lack of first-hand experience, passion and dedication for sports, politicians, business people and some parents are not qualified to hold office in sports organizations. While there is a lot of truth in the above assumption, proper structured training of sports officials is essential to make a person a good and effective sports official with correct ethics and responsibilities. The ASMC is the tool to make sports officials better, more efficient and effective, with correct ethics, values and responsibilities.

The ASMC 2009 is designed for volunteers and paid staff of the executive level at the National Olympic Committee, National Federations and other bodies responsible for the organisation and development of sports. As it is an advanced course, it is important that participants are at the executive level so that they can participate fully in the learning activities and gain optimally from them. The ASMC is held over 4 week-end sessions, each lasting 4 days, from Thursdays to Sundays. The sessions are as follows:

• Session 1 – 26th February to 1st March 2009, on Organising an Olympic Sports Organisation and Managing Strategically.
• Session 2 – 7th to 10th May 2009 – Managing Human Resources and Managing Finance.
• Session 3 – 20th to 23rd August 2009 – Managing Marketing and Organising a Major Sport Event.
• Session 4 – 22nd to 25th October 2009 – Presentation and Discussion; the Learning Process.

The course venue is in Wisma OCM, Kuala Lumpur. Those who are interested please go to OCM Website www.olympic.org.my for details. Closing date has been extended to 17th February 2009.
