KUALA LUMPUR, July 12 -- Malaysia ran ring all over Zimbabwe to beat them 4-0 in a friendly at Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium in Cheras here Sunday.
Zimbabwe kept Malaysia's foray at bay until the 44th minute when Mohd Safiq Rahim scored from the penalty spot after winger Norshahrul Idlan Talaha was brought down in the penalty box.
Shortly after the breather, Malaysia increased the lead when Indra Putra Mahyuddin hit the net from a loose ball from close range in the 49th minute.
Farderin Kadir widen the scoreline with the third goal in 85th minute before Norshahrul Idlan Talaha sealed the issue beyond doubt three minutes later.
The Malaysian under-23 players aided by seniors, Mohd Amri Yahya and Indra Putra Mahyuddin, were put through their paces by coach K. Rajagopal as part of their preparation before their crunch against Manchester United on Saturday.
They will meet Zimbabwe again on Tuesday at Shah Alam Stadium.
