5th ASEAN Para Games Kuala Lumpur 2009 (KL’09) – 15th to 19th August 2009 in Kuala Lumpur. 
Da Ma Cai National Wushu Championships 2009 – 22nd to 24th August 2009, at Stadium Badminton Kuala Lumpur, Cheras. 
23rd FIBA Asia Championship for Women - Twelve teams divided into two Levels will battle it out in the Championship which will be played from Sept 17-24, 2009 in the southern Indian coastal town of Chennai. Malaysia is in Level II with teams from Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Philippines, Sri Lanka and Uzbekistan.

5th ASEAN Para Games Kuala Lumpur 2009 (KL’09) 

The 5th ASEAN Para Games, Kuala Lumpur 2009, was declared opened by the Honourable Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi at the Putra Stadium, Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur on 15th August 2009. Over a 1,000 para-athletes from the 10 ASEAN countries are participating in the 5th ASEAN Para Games. The ASEAN Para Games is held biennially, with the inaugural Games being held in Kuala Lumpur in 2001. The Table Tennis competitions of the 5th ASEAN Para Games are held at Level 3, OCM Indoor Sports Arena, Jalan Hang Jebat, Kuala Lumpur. The competitions will end on 19th August 2009.

29th National Senior Karate Championship 2009

The 29th National Senior Karate Championship 2009, was successfully organized by Malacca Karate Association at Mini Stadium Bistari, Ayer Keroh, Malacca. This year’s championship was participated by 19 states and styles associations with 197 participants. The opening ceremony was officiated by YB Seet Ah Chow (Exco Kerajaan Negeri Johor) and the closing ceremony was officiated by Y.Bhg. Datuk Haji Mohd Noor Nordin (Acting President of Malaysia Karate Federation). 

The team from Hayashi-Ha finished as champion with 9 gold medals, 1 silver medal and 6 bronze medals. The team from Goshin-Ryu was second with 4 gold medals and 1 silver medal. Johor State team was third with 3 gold medals, 1 silver medal and 2 bronze medals, while Pulau Pinang was fourth with 2 gold medals, 5 silver medals and 5 gold medals. 

Sports Writers’ Association of Malaysia (SAM)

Congratulations to Encik Ahmad Khawari Isa, on being returned unopposed as the President of SAM, after incumbent President Encik Abu Atan Bakar, withdrew from defending the Presidency post of SAM, at the Extra-Ordinary General Meeting of SAM held at Wisma OCM on 15th August 2009. 

The Deputy President of SAM is Encik Ibrahim Abu Bakar, and the two Vice Presidents are Encik Asan Ahmad (Kosmo) and Encik Eric Samuel (The Star).

Study Tour Project for Leaders of Asian Youth Sports

The Japan Sports Association (JASA) is organizing its annual “Study Tour Project for Leaders of Asian Youth Sports 2009” from 4th to 11th November 2009. As in past years, JASA is inviting 2 young sports leaders (between 25 years to 50 years) from the Olympic Council of Malaysia to attend the Study Tour. The theme of the Study Tour is “Approaches to improving children’s physical fitness in each country/region”, and each participant is has to make a 10 to 15 minute presentation on the theme.

Affiliates of OCM are invited to nominate their candidates for consideration by OCM Executive Board. The closing date for the submission of the application forms of candidates to OCM is 4th September 2009.
