Congratulations 

The Office Bearers and the members of the Olympic Council of Malaysia wish to congratulate Y.Bhg. Dato’ Nicol David for winning the Women’s World Open Squash Championship for the 4th time on Amsterdam on Sunday 27th September 2009. Y.Bhg. Dato’ Nicole David became only the third player to win the World Championship four times. 

MABA Workshop 2009 

The Malaysia Basketball Association (MABA) will be organizing a workshop on the theme of “Pursuing Excellence for National Basketball Development” for Office Bearers of all State Basketball Associations from 2nd to 4th October 2009 at Pearl International Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. The Opening Ceremony will be officiated by Y.B. Dato’ Seri Tiong King Sing, President of MABA on Friday, 2nd October 2009 at 3.00 p.m. at Banquet Room, Pearl International Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

SEA Games Federation Sports & Rules Committee Meeting

The SEA Games Federation will be holding meetings in Vientiane, Laos, in December 2009, a couple of days before the Opening Ceremony of the 25th SEA Games. The dates of the meeting are as follows:

6th December 2009 
Morning – Meetings of the Sports and Rules Committee and Medical Committee.
Afternoon – Meetings of the Anti Doping Disciplinary Ad Hoc Committee for the 25th SEA Games and the Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) Ad Hoc Committee.
7th December 2009 – Morning – Executive Committee Meeting.
8th December 2009 – Morning – SEA Games Federation Council Meeting.

International Forum – “For Better 2014 Incheon Asian Games”.

The Incheon Asian Games Organising Committee (IAGOC) organized an International Forum on the Theme “For Better 2014 Incheon Asian Games” on 26th September 2009 at the Sheraton Incheon Hotel, Korea.

In the morning of 26th September 2009, the Director General of IAGOC, Mr. Joonhwan Kong, presented a comprehensive report of the “2014 Incheon Asian Games Preparation”, outlining the following 3 objectives of the 2014 Asian Games:
  • Support balanced sports development in Asia
  • Foster friendship throughout Asia
  • Host the most successful Asian Game ever held. 
He also announced the 2 winning slogans of the 2014 Asian Games Slogan contest, which are: “Challenge our Dreams, Asia Moving Forward” and “Go Beyond, Go Together.”

A video presentation of the “Free Economic Zone” development and the vision of Incheon City was shown, after the presentation by Mr. Kong.
In the afternoon, Dato’ Sieh Kok Chi presented a paper on “Enhancing Value of 2014 Asian Games’, followed by a panel discussion. A second paper “Asian Games in 21st Century” was presented by Professor Son, Cheon Taik, which was followed by a panel discussion. The third and final paper was presented by Mrs. Natalya Sipovich, Chairperson, Womn’s Committee of OCA on “Women and Sports in Asia”, which was also followed by a panel discussion. 

7th OCM - Tan Sri Alex Lee Charity Golf 2009

The Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) is organizing the 7th OCM - Tan Sri Alex Lee Charity Golf on 9th November 2009 at Saujana Golf & Country Club. The objectives of the charity golf are to raise funds for the Tan Sri Alex Lee Athletes’ Education Fund and to encourage interaction between the various National Sports Associations (NSAs) and also in memory of the late Tan Sri Alex Lee for his tremendous contribution to the nation and sport. NSAs, sponsors, corporate and individuals are urged to support and participate in this event. This is the 10th Anniversary of the untimely passing away of the late Tan Sri Alex Lee, in a scuba diving accident off the coast of Papua New Guinea in 1999. 

NSAs affiliated to OCM are invited to support the Tan Sri Alex Lee Athletes’ Education Fund by participating in the Charity Golf or by sponsoring/donating prizes and souvenirs and cash for the organisation of the Charity Golf.
