Ulu Klang Recreation Club (UKRC) Youth Football Tournament 2009

The Ulu KLang Recreation Club (UKRC) organized its annual Youth Football Tournament for Biys Under 12 years, on 2nd May 2009. Besides UKRC, the other 11 participating teams were Penang Sports Club, The Malacca Club, Melodi Jaya, Bintang Biru, First Touch Assumption, Astaka Kuala Lumpur, PKNS Academy, KL Youth Soccer , Goal Academy, Royal Selangor Club and Brazilian FC. Kuala Lumpur Youth Soccer won the tournament by beating Royal Selangor Club by 1 goal to zero. Astaka Kuala Lumpur and the First Touch Assumption from Penang were the losing semi-finalists. Astaka Kuala Lumpur also won the Fair-Play trophy.

UKRC has a very good FIFA standard size Football field and a club house, an outdoor Basketball court and car park. It is a community club run and managed by the committee, who are all volunteers. What is very impressive is that UKRC does not employ any staff to maintain its Football field and club house. The mowing of the grass of the Football field and general maintenance of the club house is all by the committee members and members of the club. Thus the spirit of volunteerism is very true and strong in UKRC.
