150th OCM Council Meeting

The 150th OCM Council Meeting was held on 1st November 2008 at Conference Room, Ground Floor, Wisma OCM, Kuala Lumpur, at 9.30 a.m. The Council noted the increased number of multi-sports games being held in Asia. For 2009, the Olympic Council of Malaysia would be participating in the following six Games:-

• 5th Australian Youth Olympic Festival, Sydney, from 14th to18th January 2009
• 1st Asian Martial Art Games, Bangkok, from 27th April to 3rd May 2009
• 1st Asian Youth Games, Singapore, from 2nd to 10h July 2009
• 3rd Asian Indoor Games, Hanoi, in November 2009
• 25th SEA Games, Vientiane, Laos, from 9th to 17th December 2009


OCM Festive Season Open House

The OCM Festive Season Open House was held on 1st November 2008 from 12.00 noon to 3.00 p.m. at the recently renovated Coffee House of Olympic Hotel, Wisma OCM, Kuala Lumpur. Over 100 members of National Sports Associations, sponsors, National Sports Council, National Institute of Sports, supporters, media and friends attended the above Open House. A number of foreign guests, from Jordan, Norway, Japan, Germany and the USA who are attending the 12th World Sport for All Congress also attended the Open House.

12th World Sport for All Congress 2008

The Opening Ceremony of 12th World Sport for All Congress 2008 will be held in Genting Highlands on 3rd November 2008 at 7.50 p.m. The Hon. Minister of Youth and Sport Malaysia, will officiate the Opening Ceremony. A welcome dinner with a display of Malaysian Cultural dances and Wushu will be organized.

Due to work constraints, the President of the IOC, Dr. Jacque Rogge, would not be attending the 12th World Congress. He will be represented by Mr. Lambis Nikolaou, one of the four Vice Presidents of the IOC. To date, around 400 participants have confirmed their attendance. Out of the 400 participants, about 280 are from overseas and about 120 are Malaysians.

The Hash Movement was formed in Kuala Lumpur in 1938. As such 2008 is the 70th Anniversary of its establishment . A representative of the House Foundation will be presenting a paper on the Hash Movement, on Tuesday, 4th November 2008 at 12.00 noon. A Hash Run in the evening of 4th November 2008, from 6.00 p.m. will be organized near Awana Genting. After the Run, a party will be held at the site to strengthen fellowship among the Hashers. A small participation fee of RM50/= will be charged to any delegate who is interested to participate. The fee is to pay for transportation from Genting International Convention Centre to the Run site and return after the party. In addition, each participant will be provided with the Hash 70th Year Anniversary Souvenir T-shirt, food and drinks after the Hash Run.
