12th World Sport for All Congress 2008

The 12th World Sport for All Conggress 2008 will be held in Genting Highlands from 3rd to 6th November 2008. The 12th World Sport for All Congress is organized by the Olympic Council of Malaysia under the patronage of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), in collaboration with the World Health Organisation (WHO), the General Assembly of International Sport Federations (GAISF), and the IOC Sport for All Commission. The 12th World Sport for All Congress is therefore an important event in the IOC Calender and should be supported by all sports people of the world, especially by Malaysians.

To promote and encourage Malaysians to participate in the 12th World Conggress, the Organising Commitee has decided to subsidize Malaysians participants by offering a special package of RM800/= only, made up of RM500/= for registration fee (normal charge is RM860/=) and accommodation charge in a standard room at the First World Hotel at RM300/= for 3 nigth with breakfasts. The registration fee will cover the Opening Ceremony dinner and the Closing Ceremony lunch, lunches on 4th and 5th November and 5 teas/coffee breaks on 4th, 5th and 6th November 2008, as well as Congress bag, Abstract Book and Congress Proceedings.

Malaysians are urged not to miss this opportunity to attend the 12th World Conggress in Genting Highlands at such a low rate. If they were to miss this opportunity, then to attend future World Conggress in Europe, North America and other parts of the world, could well be beyond their means. As this is a subsidized package. payments will have to be made to Olympic Council of Malaysia, by cash or cheque, for OCM to forward the room payments to Genting Highlands.

To-dete, a total of 161 abstracts have been accepted for presentation, out of which 114 are oral presentations and 47 are poster presentations. The breakdown of abstracts by continents is as follows:- Africa 12, Americas 10, Asia 72, Europe 42, Oceania 10 and Malaysia 15.

Flag Handing Ceremony to the Chef de Mission of Malaysian Contingent to the 3rd Commonwealth Youth Games

The Flag Handing Ceremony to the Chef de Mession of the Malaysian Contingent to the 3rd Commonwealth Youth Games will be held on 7th October 2008 at 10.30 a.m. at Majlis Sukan Negara, Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur. The Jalur Gemilang will be handed to Encik Ah Toke, the Chef de Mission by YAM Tunku Tan Sri Imran ibni Tuanku Ja'afar, President of the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) and 1st Vice President of the Commonwealth Games Federations (CGF).

The Malaysian Contingent comprises 42 athletes (21 males and 21 females), with 17 officials (6 are Exra Officials). The 42 athletes will be participating in 7 sports, namely, Archery, Athletics, Swimming, Badminton, shooting, Table Tennis and Weightlifting.

The Contingent departs for Pune, India on 8th October by MH194 at 2015 hours and return on 17th October by MH195, arriving at KLIA at 0715 hours.

Flag Handing Ceremony to the Malaysian Korean Golf  Team participating in the 2008 Korean National Games-

The Koreans living in Malaysia is participating in the 2008 Korean National Games, with a team of 4 men golfers and 2 officials. The Jalur Gemilang will be handed to the Team Manager of the Malaysian Korean team by YAM Tunku Tan Sri Imran ibni Tuanku Ja'afar, President of the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM). The Flag Handing Ceremony will be held on 7th October 2008 at 12.30 noon at Nikko Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. Malaysia will be one of 15 countries represented at the 2008 Korean National Games. The Golf team will depart for Korea on 8th October 2008.

6th Tan Sri Alex Lee Charity Golf Tournament 2008 for the Tan Sri Athletes Education Fund

The 6th Tan Sri Alex Lee Annual Charity Golf  Tournament will be held on 8th October 2008 at the Bunga Raya Course, Saujana Golf & Country Club, Subang, starting at 7.00 a.m. For details please go to http://www.olympic.org.my.

1st Asian Beach Games 2008

Malaysia will be participating with Contingent comprising 44 male athletes and 26 female athletes, who be competing in the following 12 sport, Beach Kabaddi, Beach Pencak Silat, Beach Sepaktakraw, Beach Soccer, Beach Volleyball, Beach Basketball, Bodybuilding, Paragliding, Sailing, Triathlon, Woodball and Wind Surfing.

The Chef de Mission of the Contingent is Y. Bhg. Dato' Sri Dr. Ibrahim Saad, Vice President of OCM. The Contingent will depart for Bali in batches, with the first bacth leaving on 16th October 2008. The whole Malaysian Contingent will be flaying Air Asia, the Official Airline of the Olympic Council of Malaysia.
